| TRAIN THE TRAINER City & Guilds Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) Introduction: This Award aims to provide the learner with the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required for teaching in the learning and skills sector. For Whom Suitable: Anyone who is considering working in the learning and skills sector and required to deliver SIA licence to practice qualifications. Awarding Body: City & Guilds – accredited and regulated by QCA & a recognised Awarding Body by the SIA Level: Level 2 Key Skills Course Duration: Most Colleges offer the course over a 12 week period (3 hours per week), some may offer a 5 day course Programme Structure: Discussion, group work, micro teach, lecture and e-learning Prior Learning: Learners must be qualified and experienced in the subject they wish to teach Assessment: Learners must successfully complete both the theory and practical assignments covering all five sections. These assignments are assessed by written work, observation self assessment, peer assessment and professional discussion. Progression: This qualification provides progression to the 7304 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS0, the 7305 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector and the PGCE/PCE (Greenwich University Validated) Content: This is a one Unit Award containing five sections: Section 1: Understand own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching Section 2: Understand teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area Section 3: Demonstrate session planning skills Section 4: Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners Section 5: Understand the use of different assessment methods and the need for record keeping. There is theory and practical aspect to each section and learners will be required to do a 30 minute micro teach as part of the practical. This Award has a credit value of six credits.
