Appointed Person First Aid at Work


Introduction: 
This programme aims to provide the learner with the basic skills, knowledge and understanding.

For Whom Suitable:
Any member of an organisation who is likely to find themselves taking charge or who has been appointed to take charge of first aid during a first aid emergency, in the absence of a qualified First Aider.

Awarding Body:
St John Ambulance / British Red Cross

Level:
Level 2

Course Duration:
1 Day – minimum 6 hours contact time and can be delivered as an open or in-house option

Programme Structure:
The programme is a mixture of theory and practical tuition

Prior Learning:
None required

Assessment:
The assessment shall be carried out by the Course Tutor

Progression:
Learners can proceed onto advanced First Aid qualifications

Course Content:
:: Aims and principles of first aid
:: What to do in an emergency
:: Basic Life Support (CPR)
:: Management of the unconscious casualty
:: Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded or bleeding
:: Choking and asphyxia
:: Assessment and treatment of burns
:: Assessment and treatment of miscellaneous medical conditions
:: Record keeping
